Bitter Memories by Rain-Gear Bitter Memories by Rain-Gear
"When all is said and done dear sister and you the 'light of Equestria' has extinguished all others tell me, will you be satisfied with your mountains of ash and ruin? Does this cup you choose to fill have a bottom? In a few minutes I will be ash like the countless others but I hope my words will help you recall in due time...remember what you once were my dearest elder sister..."

Well I finally got something done! Finally school is out for the summer so I can art so much more!
If you haven't realized this is the evil version of Celestia dubbed "solar flare".
It's a pretty dark piece in concept which is a nice refreshing change for me! I decided to do this piece after seeing an animation called Dimension Bomb by Genius Party, it quite literally blew my mind I recommend you go watch it!

Some music to go along with your viewing if you so wish: Revelation - Phil Rey feat Felicia Farrere

As per usually I would love to hear your thoughts on the piece!

I really, really, REALLY like this piece! The way Celest--er, Solar Flare looks at her crown, remembering her past. The grief in her eyes is very obvious, the tears falling down her cheeks making her grief more obvious. The shadows/memories of Luna and Twilight look great; they blend into her fiery mane and tail (which, by the way, look very great, although I feel as if they could've been a bit bigger) perfectly, and they look almost tangible, even though they're clearly just memories, created by Solar reflecting on her past. Her charred wings and flank add to her fiery character, and I really like the way you can see that the back of her neck is also charred, because of her mane.

Shading is great, as always. And you've really sort of added a depth perspective on the viewer (or at least, that's how it is to me). And I really like the way you drew the mist coming out from the cracks in the ground. This shows just how intense Solar's heat really is. In the distance, you can tell that Solar really outdid herself, most likely burning everything in sight, judging by the orange light everywhere. Details make the piece look stunning.

As I mentioned before, I think that her mane and tail could've been a bit bigger. I kind of feel as if they were a bit too small. The same goes for the magical aura around her crown and horn--I just don't feel as if they were prominent enough.

Overall, this is excellent work! (It's even fanfiction-worthy, and that's a feat!) As with every one of your works, I love every pixel of it. Details make everything realistic, and once again, I really love this artwork of yours. :)

This piece... I love it. A lot. While it is a little bit dark for my taste (As in the picture is rather dim), you clearly make up for it with meaning, symbolism and details in the brighter foreground. I would have enjoyed a little more of a background, but it's more than I could ask for with the foreground so it's alright. It's an original take on all of the scars our solar princess has endured, we can clearly see it by her pained expression and what (I think) she's scared to become reflecting right behind her. <3s to you!

And after the world has burned to a crisp, what then of the Eternal Sun? To wander the land as naught but an ember, eternally burning with the light of a candle? To try in vain to burn fire to death?

Bottom line is, being immortal sucks.

This looks amazing.  I love this art piece just because it says so much without having to say anything.  Also the level of detail of the background is just right where it doesn't detract the viewer from seeing the main focus of Celestia "Solar Flare".  Thank you for showing a great piece.

Oh and btw Happy Birthday.

Holy shit.
Holy shit holy shit holy shit.
Is this related to Dark Souls? Because the light extinguishing and the last flame and all that? I'm probably totally misinterpreting it, but just in case I'm not then I declare this to be AWESOME AS SHIT.
Like, it's awesome as shit anyway, from an objective standpoint, but this makes is awesome as shit to me on a more personal level.
